John Kerry to Vietnam: 'Send Me'?

Turns out Kerry may just be PO'd because he's jealous of Bush and Cheney. He wasn't as smart as they were.

Kerry joined the Reserves too at first, AFTER unsuccessfully trying to snag a student deferment so he could go play in Paris for a year.

Since the request for a deferment was denied, "John Kerry's service record indicates that on February 18, 1966, he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves, status 'inactive,' not in the U.S. Navy. These details are conveniently left out of all pro-Kerry biographies. Douglas Brinkley records that Kerry entered Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island; however, again he fails to note that Kerry was seeking to be an officer of the U.S. Naval Reserves."

Larry Elder: John Kerry to Vietnam: 'Send Me'?

It's obvious that Bush was able to pull what was likely a much safer and cushier spot in the National Guard. So what? So did tens of thousands of others. It's old news. Fact is, he still fulfilled the requirements, albeit close to the minimum at times, but overall he was in the service longer than Kerry was, from signup to discharge. (Kerry got out 6 months early too.)

Bush/Kerry military service Timeline (Note how CBS news denotes John Kerry's service as his "Naval career" and Bush's as "Bush's Guard service")

The difference is, Bush never claimed to be a war hero.
Bush has not denigrated Kerry for his service. In fact, he has commended him for it.
Bush did not bring Vietnam up. Kerry did.

Kerry was only in Vietnam for 4 months. He's ached for years to be able to use the 'heroism' angle in his political career. Poor guy, he just doesn't realize that the paint has already dried on that period and nobody's really impressed with it. ESPECIALLY when it come to light that he's had to embellish the hell out of it to even make it usable fodder.

Bush's record has been pretty fully addressed by now. I don't see any damning information in those notes even if they are legit, which I highly doubt. Everyone already knows Bush let his pilot requirements lapse near the end. They had "a glut of pilots" by then. But it's fun watching Dan Blather dig his own spider hole!

Bush's National Guard years: Before you fall for Dems' spin, here are the facts

Give it up, John. If not, why don't we talk about your running mate's military record (or the lack thereof).

Who Is John Kerry?
Who Is John Edwards?

By the way, with all this talk about Vietnam and "quagmires", do you recall that it was a Democrat that got us into Vietnam? It was a Democrat that kept us there way too long, mostly for political reasons, costing tens of thousands of lives? (All with the full force and support of a long-time-Democrat-led Congress). But it was a Republican who got us out of Vietnam?

How soon they forget.

That's my thought,
Larry
